Today was a good day. Rewarding and humbling.
Today I worked at the local food bank. Side by side with other eager volunteers, I sorted donations in the warehouse. It was hard work. Heavy lifting, working on our feet and very fast pace. I’ve never seen so many canned goods in my life. It was humbling to think of the people we were helping.
At the end of it all, we had the biggest smiles, tired hands and warm hearts.
In the grand scheme of things, our contribution may not have been very big, but to me, it meant the world.
I always try do my little share and give what I can to help others. But a day like today was a GREAT reminder of how very grateful I am for everything in my life. I’m so thankful for the little things and the big things and everything in between!
I’m sure many of you already volunteer your time towards charitable organizations all throughout the year. If you don’t, please consider doing so. You won’t just be helping people in your community – you will be helping yourself too:)
For me, this is just the beginning. Dominick and I are already planning to volunteer together. It won’t be during the Holidays. It will just be a regular time of the year, when help is needed just as much!
After all, we were given two hands – one to help ourselves and one to help others.
