It’s Monday: Let’s Juice – Vitamin C citrus boost

Recharge your immune system with a simple citrus smoothie! You’ll provide your body with a full load of vitamin C, plus many other essential nutrients! You’ll feel revived!

Ingredients

  • 2 oranges
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cup of coconut water
  • Ice

That’s it, that’s all!

Instructions

  • Peel oranges and lemon and cut into pieces
  • Blend well with coconut water and ice

And there you have it! Your body will LOVE you!

A single lemon will provide your body with half of your daily needs of Vitamin C. It fights free radicals, acts as an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory. It not only boosts the immune system but can also aid in weight loss, increase iron absorption and assist in producing collagen.

Similarly, an orange will enrich your diet with antioxidants and help fight free radicals. It provides a full amount of Vitamin C for your daily dietary needs, plus fibre, folate, vitamin B, potassium and calcium.

Interestingly enough, a study in the British Journal of Nutrition (quoted here), showed that simply taking a Vitamin C supplement does not equal the same benefits as drinking a glass of orange juice!
