Are you nuts about NUTS? Chances are that unless you have a nut allergy, you already know that nuts are super good for you. With the wide variety of nuts available out there, there something for everyone! But – what’s all the hype about? Why are nuts SO good for you?
I did a bit of research and came up with a quick list of 3 Reasons to Eat More Nuts:
1. Nuts are high in fat, low in carbs and a great source of various nutrients, including protein, vitamin E, magnesium and selenium
2. Nuts are filled with antioxidants and protect the body from the risk of heart disease, cancer, gallstones and Type 2 diabetes
3. Nuts help you feel full longer, therefore can contribute to maintaining a healthy body weight. While they are calorie dense, they are filled with fiber and protein and can keep you from munching on other unhealthy snacks later
Although all nuts are healthy, some nuts are filled with more nutrients than others.
Cashews are very high in iron, zinc, and magnesium, which aid in avoiding blood diseases.
Brazil nuts are an excellent source of selenium, which can help prevent cancer.
Almonds contain more fiber than any other nut and are the highest in Vitamin E.
Pecans are high in healthy unsaturated fat and can lower bad cholesterol
Walnuts contain the most antioxidants of any other nuts and the most omega-3 fatty acids, which fight inflammation.
My favourites: Pecans, Cashews and Walnuts
