Another lunch with an awesome friend – this time at Nique (in my city of Hamilton, of course!). Located at the corner of James North and Vine, the location is perfect for a downtown lunch, brunch or dinner.
If it wasn’t for the darn wind, we would have gladly sat on Nique’s outdoor patio. It looks quite attractive!
We were not at all disappointed when we walked in, though!
A lot of that urban loft décor feeling with exposed floors and ceilings and some FANTASTIC wall art of comic strips. At the same time, some rustic accents such as the AMAZING tables! And of course, simple but hip table décor!
Wow factor – the light fixtures – made from large cans, hanging above the generous tables. Nice effect!
Onto the lunch…
First of all, we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in a few minutes before noon to find many open tables. This significantly changed within the next half hour! If you’re planning on a later lunch, it might be worthy to make a reservation.
Ordering our food was a breeze, it arrived fairly quickly and our server seemed like she was on top of her game. Awesome!
We picked the first two items on the lunch menu: Sushi Nachos (CAD$18) and Roasted Cauliflower & Poblano Hummus with spiced olives, pickled onions and pomegranate (CAD$16). The Hummus plate was served with some beautiful bread and although I am staying away from bread lately, believe me, I dug in!
A few things I look for in my dish: It has to look pretty, it has to taste great and it has to be good for me. The Hummus dip fit the category right on! It looked SO pretty, tasted amazing and we all know hummus is good for you (the bread was good for my soul, so no harm;).
I tried my companion’s Sushi Nachos and these were fantastic too! Needless to say, we were both very pleased!
Great place, great food and a great friend to chat with (thanks Tracy!!) – what else can a girl ask for?
Adding this restaurant to the list of my favourite places in the city. And the list is growing!
