Red Currant And Peach Juice

I remember spending summer days on my grandparents’ farm, picking red currants off their shrubs.  Mind you, at that time, it was intense labour for my family, as my grandparents had A LOT of shrubs!  Just doing one was loads of work!  Each family member had a little stool and a bowl and we sat around and picked, picked, picked.  Ate some in between, of course.  You can’t beat that taste.  Hence, when red currants are in season, I absolutely must have them!

A lovely Red Currant and Peach Juice is SO good and super good for you!  Plus, it’s easy breezy to make!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups red currants
  • 3 ripe peaches

Directions

  • Remove all stems from currants
  • Cut peaches into wedges
  • Juice ingredients together
  • Serve immediately
  • Add ice if desired

You would expect a juice with red currants to be somewhat tart, however, the peaches add just the perfect amount of sweetness to make an overall fantastic effect.  I know my taste buds absolutely love it;)

And this juice isn’t just yummy, it’s also nutrient dense!

Red currants contain potassium, protein, vitamins C and B6, calcium, iron and magnesium.  They are rich in antioxidants, help fight infections, can assist in blood cell formation and do miracles for the digestive system.

Peaches are filled with vitamins E and K, folate, iron, potassium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and copper.  Also loaded with antioxidants, they fight against free radicals and protect the body against disease.

Carrot Lemon Summer Juice

Sweet Cherry Maple Water Smoothie

Have you been cherry picking this season yet?  I don’t know about your part of the world, but here in my little world, the cherries are absolutely BEAUTIFUL this year!  I love fresh sweet cherries, and my kids love them too.  Albeit Daniel loves them a lot more than Dominick;)  Either way, they are a staple in our kitchen when in season!
